THIS GRANT FOR A RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ENTITLED, “DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEXT GENERATION OF DIODE PUMP LASERS FOR INERTIAL CONFINEMENT FUSION (ICF)'' IS AWARDED TO FULCELTECH INC. DBA PRINCETON INNOTECH UNDER ARPA-E FOA NUMBER DE-FOA-0003164 (SPARKS) AND CONTROL NUMBER 3164-1685. THE PURPOSE OF THIS AWARD IS TO ADDRESS THE DIODE LASER PUMPS NEEDED FOR INERTIAL CONFINEMENT FUSION(ICF) PURSUED BY LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LAB (LLNL). LLNL USES A COMBINED PULSE ENERGY OF 4MJ IMPINGING ON THE FUSION TARGET FROM 192 BEAMLINES OUT OF THE SAME NUMBER OF DIODE PUMPED SOLID STATE LASERS. THEY WOULD LIKE TO INCREASE THE PULSE ENERGY ONTO THE FUSION TARGET FURTHER BY INCREASING THE DIODE PUMP LASER POWER DENSITY. TO ADVANCE THE STATE OF THE ART AND BE READY FOR BUILDING OF THE FUTURE FUSION REACTORS, LLNL WANTS THE PUMP POWER DENSITY TO BE INCREASED FROM THE CURRENT STATE OF THE ART OF 8KW/CM2 TO 11KW/CM2 WITH A “REACH” GOAL OF 20KW/CM2.$499,999
