CARBON RIVERS WILL FOCUS ON CONVERTING RECLAIMED TURBINE BLADE FIBERS INTO SECOND LIFECYCLE COMPOSITE PRODUCTION WITH THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE TO DEMONSTRATE THE REUSE OF RECYCLED FIBERGLASS INTO SECOND LIFECYCLE PRODUCTS. THE TEAM WILL DEVELOP AND VERIFY THE TECHNOLOGY OF PROCESSING THE CURRENT RECYCLED GLASS STAPLES INTO WET-LAY NONWOVEN FABRICS USABLE IN NEW COMPOSITE PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION. THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE: 1) OPTIMIZATION OF THE CURRENT RINSING AND DRYING PROCESS OF THE PILOT RECYCLING LINE AT CARBON RIVERS’ R&D FACILITY. 2) ADDING A CARBON SEPARATION STEP BETWEEN THE PYROLYSIS AND GLASS FIBER RECOVERY PROCESS. 3) MECHANICAL AND SURFACE CHARACTERIZATION. 4) SUPPLYING INDUSTRIAL PARTNERS WITH SAMPLES TO OBTAIN INDUSTRY FEEDBACK.$1,099,998
