THE PROJECT OBJECTIVE IS TO DESIGN, DEVELOP, MANUFACTURE AND TEST AN INNOVATIVE OIL-FREE, FOIL BEARING SUPPORTED COMPRESSOR/EXPANDER (CE) AND MOTOR DRIVE FOR HEAVY DUTY TRUCK FUEL CELL SYSTEMS. THE CE WILL MEET THE PERFORMANCE, DURABILITY, LIFE AND COST TARGETS OF THE M2FCT PROGRAM. THE OUTCOME OF THIS PROJECT IS A HIGH SPEED CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR-EXPANDER SUPPORTED ON FOIL AIR BEARINGS AND ASSOCIATED MOTOR DRIVE. AT THE COMPLETION OF THIS PROGRAM, THE CE WILL HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE PERFORMANCE, DURABILITY, AND LIFE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FOA.
