THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH EXPERIMENT IS TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF INTEGRATING A PRODUCTION AUTOMOTIVE BATTERY SYSTEM, DEVELOPED BY GENERAL MOTORS COMPANY (GM), INTO AN UNMANNED UNDERSEA VEHICLE (UUV). THIS RESEARCH IS THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO POWER A UUV WITH A COMMERCIAL AUTOMOTIVE ENERGY SOURCE THAT WILL REQUIRE SOME COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH INTEGRATION WORK. CONTINUED RESEARCH INTO NON-TRADITIONAL BATTERY TECHNOLOGIES IS CRUCIAL IN PROVING A SAFE AND RELIABLE ENERGY SOURCE FOR NAVAL APPLICATIONS.$501,934
