THE LAKE WASHINGTON INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (LWTECH) SOLAR ARRAY PROJECT PLANS TO REDUCE NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY USE ON CAMPUS BY CREATING ONE OF THE LARGEST PUBLIC SOLAR ARRAYS/GRIDS IN WASHINGTON, AND EXPANDING PUBLICLY AVAILABLE SHARED, CLEAN ENERGY RESOURCES BY INSTALLING NEW EV SUPERCHARGERS ON CAMPUS. THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE THE FULL FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS AND INSTALLATION OF (2) DUAL-PORT CHARGING STATIONS (4 CHARGING ACCESS POINTS) AND
~40.00 KWAC OF SOLAR PV SYSTEM(S) TO BE INSTALLED ON THE LWTECH CAMPUS - EAST BUILDING ROOF ONLY.
B. TECHNICAL SCOPE SUMMARY
THE SOLAR PV SYSTEM WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE ROOFTOP AND BE DESIGNED TO OFFSET LWTECH ELECTRICAL LOADS WITH SOLAR PV PRODUCED ELECTRICITY. IN ADDITION, THIS PROJECT WILL FACILITATE THE FIRST LEVEL 3 DC FAST CHARGERS ON CAMPUS WITH 24-HOUR AVAILABILITY TO THE RESIDENTS OF KIRKLAND AND REDMOND. SHOWN
PHASE 1
OBJECTIVE 1: FINALIZE UTILITY SERVICE REQUIREMENT FOR NEW EV INFRASTRUCTURE AND CONFIRM SOLAR PV SIZE/PRODUCTION IS SUFFICIENT FOR THE PROJECT.
OBJECTIVE 2: CONFIRM PROJECT IS IN LINE WITH EXPECTATIONS AND INTERCONNECTION COSTS.
OBJECTIVE 3: CONFIRM ROOF CONDITION AND CAPACITY IS SUFFICIENT FOR SOLAR PV ROOFTOP INSTALLATION AND NOTE PATH FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS INTERCONNECTION TO BUILDING ELECTRICAL ROOM. CONFIRM REQUIRED SITE CRITERIA FOR EV INFRASTRUCTURE LOCATION.
OBJECTIVE 4: CONFIRM PERMIT AND INTERCONNECTION EXPECTATIONS AND COST ARE IN LINE WITH PROJECT. NOTE ANY SPECIAL PERMIT AND APPROVAL ITEMS THAT REQUIRE ADDITIONAL WORK, TIME, OR COST.
OBJECTIVE 5: UPDATE BUDGET TO ACCOMMODATE ANY FINDINGS AND NOTE ANY AREAS THAT NEED FURTHER REVIEW AND ANALYSIS.
PHASE 2
OBJECTIVE 1: DELIVER A PRELIMINARY DESIGN DRAWING SET TO REFINE PROJECT RISKS, BUDGET, AND PROCUREMENT TASKS.
OBJECTIVE 2: SUBMIT RECOMMENDATIONS AND SPECIFY CHARGING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FOR EV CHARGING SYSTEM. CONFIRM ALL EQUIPMENT EXPECTATIONS ARE IN LINE WITH DESIGN, BUDGET AND PROJECT SCHEDULE TIMELINES.
OBJECTIVE 3: TO ANALYZE AND CONFIRM PROJECT EXPECTATIONS AND ASSUMPTIONS ARE IN LINE WITH PROJECT FINDINGS. ENSURE PROJECT MEETS SAFETY, FEASIBILITY, AND BUDGET CONSTRAINTS.
OBJECTIVE 4: CONFIRM BUDGET IS IN LINE WITH PROJECT EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS.
PHASE 3
OBJECTIVE 1: TO COMPLETE AND DELIVER UTILITY INTERCONNECTION APPLICATION.
OBJECTIVE 2: TO COMPLETE A DESIGN SET SUFFICIENT FOR PERMITS AND APPROVALS REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT.
OBJECTIVE 3: TO SUBMIT DESIGNS AND APPLICATIONS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN PERMITS FOR THE SOLAR PV AND EV INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS.
OBJECTIVE 4: TO SECURE AVAILABILITY FOR MAJOR EQUIPMENT AND ANY IDENTIFIED LONG LEAD ITEMS NEEDED TO MEET PROJECT SCHEDULE.
OBJECTIVE 5: TO OBTAIN FINAL IFC DRAWING SET REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION.
OBJECTIVE 6: TO CONFIRM NOTICE TO PROCEED BUDGET PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION START.
OBJECTIVE 7: TO SAFELY BEGIN THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTION, INCLUDING SITE TRAILERS (IF NEEDED) AND SITE OWNER REQUIREMENTS.
OBJECTIVE 8: TO ENSURE THE PROJECT IS SET UP TO BE SAFE AND TO IMPLEMENT A SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION FOR THE SOLAR PV AND EV CHARGING SYSTEMS.

OBJECTIVE 1: TO SAFELY INSTALL THE SOLAR PV RACKING SYSTEM, MODULES, AND INVERTER REQUIRED FOR THE SOLAR PV MODULES ACCORDING TO IFC DRAWING SET.
