EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THAT NITROGENDEFICIENCIES IN SOIL AND PLANTS INDUCE THE EMISSIONS OF SPECIFIC GASES, WHICH COULDSERVE AS INDICATORS OF NITROGEN SUFFICIENCY OR IMPENDING NITROGENDEFICIENCY IN PLANTS. HOWEVER, THE PROCESS BY WHICH NITROGENAVAILABILITY INFLUENCES THESE GASEMISSIONS REMAINS LARGELY UNKNOWN. HENCE, THERE IS A NEED TO DEVELOP COMPREHENSIVE DATASETS TO SUPPORT THE PRECISION MANAGEMENT OF NITROGEN FERTILIZATION IN DIFFERENT AGRICULTURAL SETTINGS. TOWARD THIS END, THIS PROJECT AIMS TO DEVELOP NOVEL SENSORS TO ADVANCE FIELD MONITORING CAPABILITIES TO GUIDE IMPROVED NITROGENMANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN CROPLANDS.
