THE GOAL OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP ACADEMIC AND TRAINING PROGRAMS AT UNIVERSITIES AND COMMUNITY COLLEGES IN NORTHERN OHIO WHICH WILL PREPARE THE WORKFORCE REQUIRED FOR THE HYDROGEN ECONOMY AND TO SUPPORT EFFORTS TO DECARBONIZE HEAVY INDUSTRY IN OHIO AND MICHIGAN. REGIONAL DECARBONIZATION EFFORTS, BOTH CURRENT AND IN THE NEAR FUTURE, INCLUDE THE PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN FROM NUCLEAR AND SOLAR ENERGY VIA THE ELECTROLYSIS OF WATER, AND THE USE OF THIS GREEN HYDROGEN IN THE PRODUCTION OF STEEL, GLASS AND CHEMICALS, AND FOR FUEL-CELL POWERED BUSES, FORKLIFTS, AND MEDIUM-DUTY AND HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES. SKILLED WORKERS WILL BE NEEDED TO SUPPORT THESE EFFORTS.$3,000,000
