OBESITY IS A LEADING CAUSE OF ALL DEATH IN THE U.S. DESPITE THE AVAILABILITY OF NUMEROUS INTERVENTIONS, OBESITY PREVALENCE INCREASES. THEREFORE, A NEW STRATEGY THAT IS SUSTAINABLE AND ACCESSIBLE TO ALL SOCIOECONOMIC PEOPLE IS NEEDED. RECENTLY, CHANGING GUT MICROBIOME REPRESENTS A PROMISING STRATEGY TO PREVENT OBESITY. THIS PROJECT WILL INVESTIGATE EFFECT OF ONION PEEL EXTRACT ON HUMAN GUT MICROBIOME AND GUT FUNCTION. RESULTS OF THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE IMPORTANT INSIGHTS INTO THE ROLES OF ONION PEELS, BYPRODUCTS OF ONION IN REGULATION OF THE GUT MICROBIOME AND GUT FUNCTION OF OBESE PEOPLE. IN ADDITION, THESE DATA MAY PROMPT OBESE PEOPLE TO USE ONION PEEL AS A FOOD TO REDUCE THEIR OBESE CONDITIONS.
