A RECENT REPORT (JUNE 2021) OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON COMBATING ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANT BACTERIA (PACCARB) ENTITLED "ADVANCING INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND PRACTICE TO COMBAT ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE" HIGHLIGHTS CURRENT GAPS AND BARRIERS TO A HOLISTIC ONE HEALTH APPROACH TO INTERDISCIPLINARY AMR PEDAGOGY IN US PROFESSIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION, INCLUDING VETERINARY AND CROP/ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION. TWO KEY OUTCOMES OF THE REPORT HIGHLIGHTED THE CRITICAL NEED FOR PRACTITIONERS OF INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND ONE HEALTH SECTORS TO (A) MEET TOGETHER TO LEARN FROM EACH OTHER AND DEVELOP SHARED DEFINITIONS AND CONCEPTS OF COLLABORATIVE EDUCATION AND PRACTICE, AND (B) WORK TO DEVELOP SHARED CORE CURRICULUMS THAT EMPHASIZE AMR WITH ANTIMICROBIAL STEWARDSHIP AND SPAN THE ONE HEALTH DOMAINS. THIS CONFERENCE PROPOSAL DETAILS A STRATEGIC APPROACH TO INITIATE EFFORTS TO ADDRESS THESE GAPS AND PROVIDES A STRONG FOUNDATION ON WHICH TO CONTINUE EFFORTS TO MORE FULLY INTEGRATE THE KEY OUTCOMES AND AMR GENERALLY INTO THE PEDAGOGY OF ONE HEALTH SCIENCES. THE RATIONALE FOR THIS PROPOSAL IS THAT ANTIMICROBIAL STEWARDSHIP AND ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE IN THE FOOD SYSTEM (OF BOTH ANIMAL AND PLANT ORIGIN) CAN BE IMPROVED BY FOSTERING LEARNING AND SHARING OF APPROACHES, SUCCESSES AND OUTCOMES IN AMR WORK ACROSS THE ONE HEALTH DOMAINS. THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR THIS PROGRAM WILL BE STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED IN ANTIMICROBIAL (ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL) PRESCRIBING OR DECISION MAKING FROM ALL ONE HEALTH SECTORS.
