Abstract

Traditionally, anatomy has complemented other disciplines in the study of renal pathophysiology. Today in anatomy, as in other disciplines, state- of-the-art specimen preparation and analysis involve improved methods, reagents and instruments that are complicated and expensive. Renal structure is sensitive to fixatives and perfusion conditions; immunohistochemistry requires dozens of solutions, any of which can confound the staining, expensive microscopies and computers are required for photomicrography and computerized morphometry; ... This Core facility will provide personnel, material, and instrumentation to ensure that high quality morphologic correlation is available for each of the Center projects.
