** AWARDS ISSUED PRIOR TO JANUARY 20, 2025, WERE FUNDED UNDER PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS AND MAY NOT REFLECT THE PRIORITIES AND POLICIES OF THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION.** METHYL BROMIDE (MB) HAS BEEN USED AS A PRE-PLANT SOIL FUMIGANT FOR MANY YEARS. DUE TO ADVESE IMPACTS ON ENVIROMENT,ITS USE AND PRODUCTION WAS PHASED OUT. THE DEVELOPMENT OF NON-FUMIGANT-BASED SYSTEMS SUCH AS THE APPLICATION OF ANAEROBIC SOIL DISINFESTATION (ASD) HAS PROMPTED AN ALTERNATIVE SOIL-BORNE PATHOGENS CONTROL STRATEGY TO CHEMICAL FUMIGATION. AMONG SOILBORNE FUNGAL PATHOGENS, BLACK ROOT ROT CAUSED BY PYTHIUM IRREGULARE, AND RHIZOCTONIA FRAGARIAE, IS A DEVASTATING DISEASE COMPLEX OF STRAWBERRIES (FRAGARIA × ANANASSA) IN NORTH CAROLINA. OUR MAINOBJECTIVE OFTHIS STUDYIS TO DEVELOP BIOLOGICALLY BASED IPM TOOLSTO REPLACE FUMIGANTS THAT HELP IMPROVE SOIL HEALTH AND PLANT HEALTH, ENHANCE BENEFICAL MICROBIAL COMMUNITIES, REDUCESOILBORNE PATHOGENS AND INCREASE STRAWBERRY PRODUCTIVITY.
