EVENTS HAVE SHOWN THAT INCREASING THE AVAILABILITY, QUALITY, AND SAFETY OF MEAT PRODUCTS IS ESSENTIAL TO THE FOOD SECURITY OF ALL PEOPLES IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD. MEAT SCIENTISTS CONDUCT RESEARCH, AND PROVIDE EDUCATIONTO ENSURE THAT HIGH QUALITY FOOD IS AND WILL BEAVAILABLE. A WORKING COMMITTEE OF MEAT SCIENTISTS WILL DEVELOP AND JUSTIFY ESSENTIAL FUNDING PRIORITIES IN MEAT SCIENCE TO ENSURE AN ABUNDANT AND SAFE SUPPLY OF MEAT. THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO COLLABORATIVELY DEVELOP A WHITE PAPER AND A SCIENTIFIC MANUSCIRPTTHAT WILL BE PUBLISHED IN A PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL THAT OUTLINES IMPORTANT PRIORITIES IN MEAT SCIENCE RESEARCH, OUTREACH, AND EDUCATION. THE PAPER WILL SERVE AS A GUIDE TO GOVERNMENT, NON-GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY, AND OTHERS THAT PROVIDE FUNDING TO MEAT SCIENCE. WE ANTICIPATE THIS WORK COMING FROM EXPERTS IN MEAT SCIENCE WILL INFORM FUNDING DECISIONS ENSURING THAT NUTRITIOUS, HIGH-QUALITY, SAFE, AND HIGHLY AVAILABLE MEAT IS AVAILABLE.
