**AWARDS ISSUED PRIOR TO JANUARY 20, 2025, WERE FUNDED UNDER PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS AND MAY NOT REFLECT THE PRIORITIES AND POLICIES OF THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION.** THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT AN EMPLOYEE-CENTRIC WORKPLACE WELLNESS PROGRAM TITLED SHOW (SMALL BUSINESS HEALTH AND ORGANIZATIONAL WELLBEING) TO IMPROVE EMPLOYEE WELLBEING, ENHANCE ORGANIZATIONAL ENVIRONMENT, AND REDUCE WORKPLACE CONFLICT. USING A RANDOMIZED EXPERIMENT DESIGN, WE WILL IMPLEMENT THE SHOW PROGRAM AT RURAL SMALL BUSINESSES (RSB). WE PROPOSE THAT RSB TREATED WITH THE SHOW PROGRAM WILL EXPERIENCE IMPROVED WORKPLACE CULTURE, EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING, EMPLOYEE RETENTION, AND PRODUCTIVITY THAN THE RSB IN THE CONTROL GROUP. PREVIOUS RESEARCH HAS IGNORED THE FACT THAT RSB FACE INCREASED PROBLEMS RELATED TO WORKFORCE WELL-BEING AND RETENTION. ALTHOUGH EMPLOYERS TEND TO FOCUS ON TECHNICAL SKILLS, RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT WORKER PRODUCTIVITY, QUALITY OF WORK, AND WORKER RETENTION IS AFFECTED BY LACK OF EMPLOYEE WELLBEING AND MENTAL HEALTH. THIS PROJECT WILL LEAD TO A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE TOOLS THAT RSB CAN USE TO IMPROVE ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTIONALITY, AND PRODUCTIVITY.TO MEASURE THE SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM IMPACT OF SHOW, THE PROJECT WILL STUDY THREE DOMAINS OF EMPLOYEE AND EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES OF I) THE INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEES, II) JOB PERFORMANCE AND ATTITUDES, AND III) THE CLIMATE AND FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANIZATION. OUR OBJECTIVES ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM PRIORITY AREA: DEVELOPMENT OF LABOR SUPPLY, EDUCATION AND TRAINING RESOURCES, AND CULTURAL RESOURCES TO ENHANCE THE HUMAN CAPITAL OF THE LABOR SUPPLY TO PRODUCE SUSTAINABLE REGIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH. THIS PROJECT CONTRIBUTES TO THE BROADER PROGRAM AREA PRIORITY OF CREATING AND EXAMINING INNOVATIVE APPROACHES FOR ADVANCING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR RURAL ENTREPRENEURS AND COMMUNITIES, TO PROMOTE RURAL PROSPERITY AND WELL-BEING.
