RECENT ADVANCES IN MACHINE LEARNING, DRONE IMAGING AND HAVE CREATED EXCITING NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVING AGRICULTURE. THIS PROJECT IS A PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP INTEGRATING MULTI-DISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AT RUTGERS UNIVERSITY AND RESEARCH AT SIEMENS CORPORATION. WE COMBINE OUR EXPERTISE IN COMPUTER VISION AND PLANT BIOLOGY TO CREATE NEW, PARADIGM-SHIFTING APPROACHES FOR EVALUATING PLANT HEALTH USING DRONE IMAGERY DATA AND STATE-OF-THE-ART ALGORITHMS FOR ANALYZING DRONE IMAGERY. OUR WORK WILL FOCUS ON CRANBERRY CROPS AT PHILIP E. MARUCCI BLUEBERRY AND CRANBERRY RESEARCH AND EXTENSION CENTER AT RUTGERS UNIVERSITY. THE LONG-TERM GOAL IS TO ENABLE AND SUPPORT REAL-TIME CROP ASSESSMENT TO FACILITATE MANAGEMENT AND TO OPTIMIZE CROP YIELDS. WE WILL DEVELOP NOVEL ALGORITHMS AND DEVELOP A PRACTICAL AND EFFICIENT DRONE DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM TO COLLECT VIDEO IMAGERY FOR USE IN CROP HEALTH ANALYSIS AND YIELD ESTIMATION.
