PI WERTH IS THE PROJECT LEADER AND COORDINATES THE PROJECT SUPERVISES THE GRADUATE STUDENT AND LIAISES WITH THE MAJOR ORGANIZATION ACTIVE IN THE FIELD OF GRAVITY FIELD MODELING HYDROGEODESY AND HYDROLOGY. SHE WILL LEAD EFFORTS FOR THE GRACE DATA PROCESSING HYDROLOGICAL DATA ANALYSIS GATHERING GROUNDWATER LEVEL DATA LEAD THE DATA FUSION EFFORT INTERPRETING RELEVANT RESULTS AND DEVELOPING RELATED CODES. CO-I SHIRZAEI WILL ALSO CO-SUPERVISE BOTH GRADUATE STUDENT AND LIAISES WITH ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN THE FIELD OF RADAR REMOTE SENSING CRUSTAL DEFORMATION AND HYDROGEODESY. HE WILL UNDERTAKE THE MAJORITY OF THE ROUTINE INSAR PROCESSING AND DEVELOP INVERSION AND MODELING CODES FOR ELASTIC LOAD MODELING POROELASTIC MODELING AND STORATIVITY MODELING AND SUPPORT ELEMENTS OF THE DATA FUSION IMPLEMENTATION. TWO GRADUATE STUDENTS WILL BE SELECTED FROM A POOL OF APPLICANTS WHO HAVE AN INTEREST IN VARIOUS FIELDS OF GEOSCIENCE HYDROLOGY AND/OR ENGINEERING. THE FIRST STUDENT (YEAR 1-3) WILL BE WORKING WITH COI SHIRZAEI ON DEVELOPING NEW ALGORITHMS FOR MULTITEMPORAL INSAR PROCESSING AND ON GENERATING HIGHRESOLUTION TIME-DEPENDENT MAPS OF 3D SURFACE DEFORMATION AS A COMBINATION OF INSAR AND GPS OBSERVATIONS. WITH SUPPORT FROM CO-I SHIRZAEI SHE/HE WILL USE THE HIGH-RESOLUTION VERTICAL LAND MOTION DATA OVER MAJOR AQUIFER SYSTEMS IN COMBINATION WITH GROUNDWATER LEVEL DATA TO ESTIMATE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND PERFORM THE STORATIVITY MODELING. THE STUDENT WILL ALSO ASSIST IN POROELASTIC MODELING AND ESTIMATION OF TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF GROUNDWATER STORAGE CHANGES OVER MAJOR AQUIFER SYSTEMS OF THE SW. NNH19ZDA001N-GRACEFO IMPROVED TWSC THROUGH DATA FUSION IN SW USA WERTH & SHIRZAEI 15 THE SECOND STUDENT (YEAR 2-4) WILL WORK WITH PI WERTH ON ANALYSIS OF GRACE GRAVITY MEASUREMENTS RESCALING SPATIAL FILTERING AND ESTIMATING WATER MASS CHANGES. HE/SHE WILL ASSIST IN PREPARING HYDROLOGICAL GROUND-BASED AND MODEL DATA AS WELL AS HYDROGEOLOGICAL DATA. WITH INPUT FROM CO-I SHIRZAEI AND THE FIRST STUDENT SHE/HE WILL THEN ASSIST IN PERFORMING THE ELASTIC LOADING INVERSION OF DEFORMATION DATA OVER THE SOUTHWEST. THIS STUDENT WILL ALSO HELP WITH DATA FUSION OF ALL WITHIN THE PROJECT RETRIEVED DATASETS OF TOTAL WATER STORAGE CHANGES FOR THE ENTIRE SW.
