SATELLITE MEASUREMENTS OF CLOUD OPTICAL PROPERTIES SUCH AS OPTICAL DEPTH OR PARTICLE SIZE HAVE ENABLED NUMEROUS SCIENTIFIC ADVANCES AND LED TO GREAT IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE ATMOSPHERE AND THE BROADER CLIMATE SYSTEM.
