THE PROPOSAL PLANS TO STANDARDIZE THE ARDUINO-BASED IN SITU SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR BY CALIBRATING IT AGAINST A VARIETY OF SOILS TYPES AND AT DIFFERENT GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONS. THE RESEARCH PLAN ALSO INCLUDES DEVELOPMENT OF MANUALS ONLINE TUTORIAL AND VIDEOS PHONE APPS (FOR STORING AND UPDATING THE DATA ON THE CLOUD) AND DEPLOYMENT OF THE SENSOR THROUGH CITIZEN SCIENTISTS PARTICIPATION. THE PI AND CO-I ARE PART OF THE SMAP PROJECT AND ARE PERFECTLY PLACED TO LEVERAGE THE SMAP RESOURCES LIKE CORE SITES DATASETS FOR COMPARISON AND EVALUATION WITH THE NEW SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR MEASUREMENTS. OVERALL FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT THE OUTCOME OF THE PROPOSED WORK WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE CITIZEN SCIENTISTS AND THE GLOBE PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS THROUGH THE NASA GITHUB SITE.
