IT IS CLEAR FROM THE PREVIOUS DISCUSSION THAT A NUMBER OF THE IONS IN CHIANTI HAVE CROSS SECTIONS THAT ARE IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH RECENT MEASUREMENTS. HOWEVER THERE ARE ALSO A GOOD NUMBER THAT BEAR IMPROVEMENT. THE PROGRAM LAID OUT ABOVE IS MORE THAN A SINGLE YEAR PROGRAM AT THE PROPOSED RATE OF EFFORT. CONSEQUENTLY I WILL BEGIN WITH IONS SUCH AS FE IX THAT HAVE VERY SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. FROM THERE I WILL MOVE ON TO THOSE THAT REQUIRE THE LEAST PYTHON SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT. THIS PROBABLY INCLUDES PROBLEMS WITH THE DI CROSS SECTIONS SUCH AS FOR FE XVII AND FE XVIII. AFTER THAT THOSE WITH PROBLEMS WITH THE EA CROSS SECTIONS WILL BE ADDRESSED. IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CHIANTI CROSS SECTIONS AND RATE COEFFICIENTS IN THE TIME SCALE OF A YEAR. THE CODE BASE FOR UNDERTAKING THIS WILL REQUIRE A REBUILD. THE FAC CODE HAS UNDERGONE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES SINCE 2007. IT CAN STILL BE RUN WITHIN PYTHON VERSION 3 AS OPPOSED TO VERSION 2 THAT WAS USED IN 2007. FURTHER THE IDL CODE THAT WAS USED TO PROCESS SOME OF THE DATA PRODUCTS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH PYTHON CODE AS MY IDL LICENSE IS UNWORKABLE BECAUSE OF IT SECURITY CHANGES AT GMU.
