THE CCF-EU2 EXPERIMENT CONDUCTED ABOARD THE ISS GENERATED A ~ 1TB DATABASE OF OVER 20 000 TEST POINTS CONCERNING MICROGRAVITY BUBBLE TRANSPORT IN AN OPEN WEDGE CONDUIT. SUCH FLOWS ARE OF INTEREST FROM A FUNDAMENTALS PERSPECTIVE BUT ARE PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT FOR ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS DUE TO THE GEOMETRY S ABILITY TO PASSIVELY SEPARATE GAS AND LIQUID PHASES FOR CRITICAL SPACECRAFT FLUIDS PROCESSING OPERATIONS. DESPITE AT LEAST 6 PUBLICATIONS THAT HAVE APPEARED REGARDING CCF THE SIGNIFICANT BODY OF WORK IS YET TO BE COMPLETED. THIS PROPOSAL SEEKS SUPPORT FOR GRADUATE STUDENT(S) RESEARCH WHOSE ACTIVITIES SERENDIPITOUSLY WILL ADDRESS EACH OF THE DESIRED NASA PSI DATA USAGE INVESTIGATIONS LISTED IN THE NRA SOLICITATION: (1) COMPLETE THE DATA REDUCTION OF THE CCF-EU2 DATABASE (2) PURSUE NOVEL SECONDARY AND TERTIARY SCIENCE OBJECTIVES ONLY SUGGESTED BY THE CCF DATABASE (3) CONDUCT COMPLIMENTARY DROP TOWER TESTS THAT CONNECT CCF WITH SHORT DURATION GROUND-BASED RESEARCH METHODS (4) APPLY NUMERICAL BENCHMARKS FOR BUBBLES IN WEDGES AND (5) MAKE APPLICATIONS TO DEVICE DESIGN TARGETING ADVANCED SPACECRAFT APPLICATIONS. OUR TEAM WILL ALSO WORK TO PUBLISH A BACKLOG OF CCF RESULTS CONTINUALLY IMPROVE THE CCF-EU2 PSI ARCHIVE ORGANIZATION AND SUPPORT OTHER USERS OF THE ARCHIVE. THIS AMBITIOUS ACTIVITY IS POSSIBLE ONLY BECAUSE WE ARE THE ORIGINATORS OF THE CCF-EU2 ARCHIVE WE ARE INTIMATELY AWARE OF ITS VALUE AND CURRENT SHORTCOMINGS WE HAVE READY ACCESS TO A HIGH RATE DROP TOWER AND WE HAVE DEVELOPED AND ARE FURTHER DEVELOPING NUMERICAL MODELS FOR BOTH THE STATIC AND DYNAMIC FLOW PHENOMENA.
