THE PI AND COLLABORATORS WILL CARRY OUT A PROGRAM TO MODEL THE FORMATION OF WIDE BINARY STAR SYSTEMS. THEY WILL DEVELOP AN ALGORITHM TO TRACK PRE-STELLAR STRUCTURE AS A FUNCTION OF TIME AND ASSESS HOW WELL FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICAL PARAMETERS SUCH AS ROTATIONAL ENERGY ARE PREDICTIVE OF STELLAR MULTIPLICITY. THE PROPOSERS WILL PERFORM NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS AND COMPARE THE SIMULATED MULTIPLICITY STATISTICS WITH THOSE OBSERVED FOR PROTOSTELLAR AND PRE-MAIN SEQUENCE SOURCES. FINALLY THEY WILL PRODUCE SYNTHETIC CONTINUUM AND MOLECULAR LINE OBSERVATIONS THAT CAN BE COMPARED DIRECTLY WITH RECENT ALMA AND JVLA SURVEY DATA. THE PI AND COLLABORATORS HAVE BEGUN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING THE TRACKING ALGORITHM AND RUNNING THE NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS. APPROXIMATELY 85% OF THE ORIGINALLY PROPOSED WORK IS REMAINING.
