THE ULF WAVES ARE AN IMPORTANT PHENOMENON IN THE MAGNETOSPHERE NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT CAN BE A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL OF THE STATE OF THE MAGNETOSPHERE BUT ALSO BECAUSE IT CAN INTERACT WITH ENERGETIC PARTICLES AND ALTER THEIR ENERGIES. THE NEWLY DISCOVERED PROPERTIES OF POLOIDAL WAVES INSPIRE NEW QUESTIONS ABOUT WAVE GENERATION AND INTERACTIONS WITH TOROIDAL WAVES AND ENERGETIC PARTICLES THAT REQUIRE FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THIS PROJECT AIMS TO INVESTIGATE THE EXCITATION AND COUPLING OF POLOIDAL AND TOROIDAL ULF WAVES IN THE MAGNETOSPHERE THROUGH THE EXAMINATION OF OBSERVATIONS BY NASA HELIOPHYSICS SPACECRAFT FLEET PARTICULARLY FROM THE MMS MISSION. MMS CONSISTS OF FOUR IDENTICAL SPACECRAFT FORMING A TETRAHEDRON AND THE CLOSE SEPARATION AMONG SPACECRAFT ALLOWS THE DETERMINATION OF M OF POLOIDAL WAVES. THIS PROJECT ALSO MAKES USE OF ADVANCED TIMEFREQUENCY ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES TO EXAMINE DETAILED CHARACTERISTICS OF WAVE FREQUENCY IN OBSERVATIONS. THIS PROJECT IS FOCUSED MAINLY ON THE ANALYSIS OF MMS DATA. SUPPORTING PARTICLE AND FIELD DATA FROM OTHER HELIOPHYICS MISSIONS WILL BE EXAMINED WHENEVER THEY HELP INTERPRET THE EVENTS STUDIED. THIS PROJECT ALSO ASSISTS IN REPORTING THE DATA ANALYSIS RESULTS FOR PUBLICATION AND IN VALIDATING THE MMS DATA FOR ACCURATE INTERPRETATION OF THE WAVE EVENTS. THIS PROJECT IS SCHEDULED FOR ONE YEAR TO COMPLETE THE WORK PLAN.
