THIS PROJECT IS BASED ON XMM-NEWTON OBSERVATIONS OF THE DM+WD PRE-CATACLYSMIC VARIABLE QS VIR IN A COORDINATED JOINT HST-XL'1T1 CAMPAIGN. HST DATA PROBE THE ACCRETION RATE OF THE M DWARF WIND THROUGH WD PHOTOSPHERIC ABSORPTION LINES WHILE XMM MEASURES ACCRETION THROUGH ACCRETION SHOCK EMISSION. EARLIER NON-COORDINATED OBSERVATIONS SHOWED DIFFERENT ACCRETION RATES BY A FACTOR OF 1000. THE NEW OBSERVATIONS WILL PROBE THE ACCRETION VARIABILITY OVER THE CRUCIAL YEAR TIMESCALE PROVIDE A MEASURE OF THE VARIABILITY OF THE M DWARF MASS AND ANGULAR MOMENTUM LOSS RATES AND MAKE A KEY TEST OF ACCRETION RATES DERIVED FROM DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES.
