CONTINUE TO REFINE AND IMPROVE AN INNOVATIVE AND PRACTICAL METHOD TO CONSTRUCT IR SPECTRAL BAND RADIANCES AT IMAGER SPATIAL RESOLUTION BASED ON THE USE OF THE AQUA MODIS SPECTRAL RESPONSE FUNCTIONS USING CRIS AND VIIRS DATA; PROVIDE THE RADIANCES OF THESE SPECTRAL BANDS IN THE FORM OF APPENDED BANDS TO THE VIIRS LEVEL 1B DATA AT THE ATMOSPHERE SIPS; CREATE NEW SPECTRAL BAND RADIANCES FOR SELECTED WAVELENGTH RANGES SUCH AS IN THE 6.7- M WATER VAPOR BAND THAT EXCLUDE STRONG LINES OF ABSORPTION BY TRACE GASES FOR POTENTIAL USE IN BOTH APPLICATIONS AND DATA ASSIMILATION; AND ESTIMATE UNCERTAINTIES USING SIMILARLY CONSTRUCTED SPECTRAL BAND RADIANCES BASED ON MODIS+AIRS DATA IN COMPARISON WITH MEASURED RADIANCES FROM AQUA MODIS; AND WORK WITH OTHER GROUPS FUNDED BY NASA INTERESTED IN IMPROVING THE CONSTRUCTED IR RADIANCES AND THEIR APPLICATIONS AS WELL AS ASSESSING ASSOCIATED UNCERTAINTIES.
