SUPPORT IS REQUESTED FROM THE WIND PROJECT TO CONDUCT ANALYSIS OF SOLAR WIND EXPERIMENT (SWE) OBSERVATIONS FROM THE WIND SPACECRAFT IN A PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FROM 9/1/2018 THROUGH 8/31/2022 COVERING THE NEXT EXPECTED SOLAR MINIMUM IN 2018-2019 TIME FRAME. THIS STATEMENT OF WORK DETAILS THE WIND SPACECRAFT DATA ANALYSIS THAT WOULD BE PERFORMED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN UNDER THIS GRANT. A BUDGET IS REQUESTED TO SUPPORT APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH OF PROFESSOR JUSTIN C. KASPER AND HALF TIME SUPPORT FOR GRADUATE STUDENT WHO IS PERFORMING THEIR DOCTORAL THESIS ON WIND SPACECRAFT OBSERVATIONS. FUNDS ARE ALSO REQUESTED TO COVER ASSOCIATED PUBLICATION COSTS MATERIALS AND TRAVEL TO PRESENT WIND RESULTS AT MEETING AND CONFERENCES. THE OVERALL GOALS FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR ARE SUMMARIZED HERE AND THEN DESCRIBED IN DETAIL IN THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS: 1) SUPPORT OPERATION OF WIND/SWE FARADAY CUP ANALYSIS PIPELINE 2) ASSIST IF ISSUES ARISE WITH WIND/SWE FARADAY CUP INSTRUMENT OPERATIONS 3) MAINTAIN ALPHA-PROTON ANISOTROPY ANALYSIS 4) CONTINUE SIGNIFICANT UPGRADES TO THE ANALYSIS A) VALIDATE NEW PROTON BEAM DATASET B) MONITOR INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION AND PERFORMANCE C) DOCUMENT ANALYSIS AND DATA PRODUCTS 5) CONDUCT SCIENCE AND SUPPORT FARADAY CUP DATA USERS A) ASSIST AS NEEDED IN CALIBRATION OF PARKER SOLAR PROBE AND SOLAR ORBITER B) MONITOR HE/H ABUNDANCE VARIATIONS AS A FUNCTION OF SOLAR ACTIVITY C) INVESTIGATE DEPENDENCE OF SOLAR WIND PROPERTIES ON COULOMB COLLISIONS D) INVESTIGATE SOLAR WIND TEMPERATURES E) ASSIST BROADER COMMUNITY WITH SPECTRA AND ANALYSIS ON REQUEST
