THE HIGH SPECTRAL RESOLUTION LIDAR TECHNIQUE PIONEERED BY THE DR. ELORANTA THE CO-I OF THIS PROPOSAL (ELORANTA ET AL. 2005) IS CAPABLE OF DIRECTLY MEASURING BOTH THE AEROSOL EXTINCTION AND BACKSCATTER COEFFICIENT PROVIDING A UNIQUE GROUND BASED CAPABILITY WHICH IN COLLABORATION WITH DR. SIMPAS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO GREATLY ENHANCE THE GROUND BASED LIDAR CAPABILITIES DURING CAMP2EX FIELD CAMPAIGN AND PROVIDE A YEARLONG RECORD OF THE AEROSOL AND CLOUD PROPERTIES IN METRO MANILA FOR THIS REASON WE PROPOSE TO DEPLOY THE UW HIGH SPECTRAL RESOLUTION LIDAR (HSRL) TO DR. SIMPAS LABORATORY AT THE MANILA OBSERVATORY FOR A 1-YEAR DEPLOYMENT THAT WILL OVERLAP THE INTENSIVE AIRCRAFT MISSION SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST-SEPTEMBER OF 2019. WE EXPECT THIS COLLABORATION TO GREATLY ENHANCE GROUND NETWORK OF OBSERVING CAPABILITY AS PART OF CAMP2EX INCLUDING: CONTINUOUS DAY/NIGHT MEASUREMENTS OF THE VERTICAL PROFILE OF CLOUD AND AEROSOL EXTINCTION AND BACKSCATTER COEFFICIENT AND PARTICULATE DEPOLARIZATION RATIO AT 532 NM AND ATTENUATED BACKSCATTER COEFFICIENT AT 1064 NM. A HSRL L2 CLOUD AND AEROSOL/CLOUD PRODUCT NEW STATE OF ART DE-NOISED HSRL EXTINCTION AND LIDAR RATIO MEASUREMENTS OF CLOUDS AND AEROSOLS FOR SELECTED TIME PERIODS. THE UW HSRL SYSTEM IS DESIGNED RUN CONTINUOUSLY FROM REMOTE LOCATIONS AND HAS PROVEN TO BE A VALUABLE ASSET DURING PREVIOUS NASA FIELD CAMPAIGNS WITH NASA FUNDED DEPLOYMENTS IN BOTH SINGAPORE AND HUNTSVILLE AL FOR THE SEAC4RS MISSION A MORE RECENTLY THE KORUS DEPLOYMENT IN SOUTH KOREA SNU. AN EXAMPLE OF THE UW HSRL OBSERVATIONS FROM SINGAPORE IS PRESENTED IN FIGURE 1.
