NASA AERONAUTICS ADVANCED COMPOSITES PROJECT (ACP) IS FOCUSED ON REDUCING TIME TO DEVELOP AND CERTIFY COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES TO HELP AMERICAN INDUSTRY RETAIN A GLOBAL COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE IN AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURING. THE MATERIAL THAT IS BEING DEVELOPED THROUGH THE NASA ACP PROGRAM WILL ULTIMATELY REDUCE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND CERTIFICATION TIME. THE SCOPE OF WORK THROUGH NASA S ACP PROJECT ALIGNS WELL WITH CURRENT CMH-17 INITIATIVES AS WELL AS ONGOING WORKING GROUP ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE CMH-17 ORGANIZATION. CMH-17 [1] IS CURRENTLY A SIX-VOLUME SET CONTAINING DATA AND GUIDELINES ON POLYMER MATRIX COMPOSITES METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITES AND STRUCTURAL SANDWICH COMPOSITES. AS THE VISION OF CMH-17 HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO CREATE PUBLISH AND MAINTAIN PROVEN RELIABLE ENGINEERING INFORMATION AND STANDARDS SUBJECTED TO THOROUGH TECHNICAL REVIEW TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES THE CMH-17 ORGANIZATION WOULD WELCOME THE ADDITION OF NEW MATERIAL RELATED TO THIS OVERALL VISION.
