THE TASKS TO BE COMPLETED DURING THE LAST 2 YEARS OF THE PROJECT INCLUDE: ?IMPLEMENTATION AND TESTING THE DATA ASSIMILATION FRAMEWORK: THE EXISTING CODE FOR THE LETKF AND ENSRF ALGORITHMS WILL BE ADAPTED FOR THE COUPLED MODEL AND ASSIMILATION OF THE SYNTHETIC OBSERVATIONS WILL BE TESTED AND EVALUATED. ?PRODUCE AND EVALUATE SWOT LEVEL 4 DATA PRODUCTS: THE DEVELOPED MODELING AND ASSIMILATION FRAMEWORK WILL BE USED TO GENERATE A 3-YEAR DATASET OF CONTINUOUS FIELDS OF DISCHARGE WATER HEIGHT AND EXTENT AND STORAGE CHANGE FOR THE RIVERS LAKES WETLANDS AND RESERVOIRS OF THE FOUR TEST BASINS AND THE CONUS DOMAIN. ?TEST USE OF DERIVED RUNOFF PRODUCT FOR HYDROLOGIC MODEL CALIBRATION: THE DATA ASSIMILATION EXPERIMENTS WILL BE PERFORMED WITH RUNOFF AS THE STATE VARIABLE AND SWOT DERIVED RUNOFF FIELDS WILL BE GENERATED. THE VIC MODEL WILL THEN BE CALIBRATED AND THE RESULTING PARAMETERS WILL BE COMPARED WITH THE BASELINE SET. ?ASSESS FEASIBILITY OF POST-LAUNCH TRANSITION: THE PROJECT TEAM WILL WORK WITH THE SWOT DATA MANAGEMENT AND ALGORITHM DEVELOPMENT TEAMS TO EVALUATE THE FEASIBILITY OF IMPLEMENTING THE DEVELOPED FRAMEWORK FOR GENERATING LEVEL 4 DATA PRODUCTS POSTLAUNCH. THIS MAY INCLUDE FOR INSTANCE SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS TO MAKE FEASIBLE INGESTING SWOT LEVEL 2 PRODUCTS INTO THE DATA ASSIMILATION FRAMEWORK AND/OR OTHER MODIFICATIONS THAT WILL BE REQUIRED TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY AND FACILITATE THE SWOT PROJECT S DATA ARCHIVING AND DISSEMINATION PROCEDURES.
