THREE SETS OF GROUND CALIBRATION EXPERIMENTS WERE CONDUCTED WITH DIFFERENT GENETIC STRAINS OF YEAST. EXPERIMENTS USED STANDARD 96-WELL MICROTITER PLATES FOR GROWTH CHAMBERS IN PREPARATION FOR FLIGHT-LIKE AND FLIGHT HARDWARE EXPERIMENTS ARE PLANNED FOR 2017 AND 2018. PROTON BEAMS OF DIFFERENT ENERGIES AND BIOLOGICAL LABORATORY SUPPORT WERE PROVIDED TO THE NASA AMES TEAM AT LOMA LINDA UNIVERSITY. THE ARC TEAM COMPLETED GROWTH CURVES AND DNA REPAIR EXPERIMENTS USING SINGLE ENERGY AND COMPLEX ENERGY SPECTRA WITH YEAST IN WET AND DRY STATES IN ORDINARY LABORATORY GROWTH CONTAINERS AS WELL AS MICROFLUIDICS CHAMBERS AS CONFIGURED FOR THE FLIGHT HARDWARE. THE CHARGED PARTICLES USED BY THE TEAM AT BROOKHAVEN NATIONAL LABORATORY WITH PROTONS FROM LLU SPAN THE RANGE OF PARTICLES EXPECTED IN THE SPACE ENVIRONMENT AND SERVE AS GROUND CALIBRATIONS FOR THE 2018 EM-1 MISSION. THE LOMA LINDA TEAM STANDS READY TO SUPPORT FUTURE GROUND CALIBRATION EXPERIMENTS USING FLIGHT-LIKE AND FLIGHT HARDWARE EXPERIMENTS
