VENUS CRATER PARABOLAS ARE EJECTA THAT HAS BEEN LOFTED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE AND CARRIED BY HIGH LEVEL WINDS. WE REQUEST FUNDS TO USE MAGELLAN SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR (SAR) TO CREATE THE FIRST MAP OF CRATER PARABOLAS ON VENUS CLASSIFIED BY ORIGIN ON PLAINS OR TESSERA TERRAIN. THESE DATA CAN BE USED TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE MATERIALS FROM PRESUMABLY ANCIENT TESSERAE OF UNKNOWN COMPOSITION DIFFER FROM THOSE OF PLAINS INFERRED UNIVERSALLY TO BE BASALTIC WE SEEK TO 1) EXAMINE THE DIFFERENCES IN RADAR PROPERTIES BETWEEN PARABOLAS DERIVED FROM TESSERAE VS THOSE DERIVED FROM THE PLAINS 2) EXAMINE THE VARIABILITY IN RADAR PROPERTIES OF PARABOLAS ABOVE THE HIGH ALTITUDE LOW RADAR EMISSIVITY REGIONS AND 3) EXAMINE POTENTIAL MINERALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOW EMISSIVITY HIGHLANDS IN THE GLENN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS RIG. WE EXPECT THAT THIS WORK WILL SHED LIGHT ON WHETHER TESSERAE AND PLAINS DIFFER IF THAT DIFFERENCE CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO MINERALOGY AND IF SO ARE THOSE MINERALOGIES CONSISTENT WITH HIGHER SILICA COMPOSITIONS FOR TESSERA TERRAIN. THE LATTER MAY INDICATE THE TESSERA FORMED DURING AN ERA ON VENUS WITH ABUNDANT WATER AND PLATE RECYCLING.
