TIDI IS FULLY CAPABLE OF ACCOMPLISHING THE SCIENTIFIC GOAL OF MEASURING WIND VECTORS IN THE MLT FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT DEGRADATION. THE TIDI OPTICAL SYSTEM HAS NOT CHANGED AND NO CHANGES ARE EXPECTED. THE CCD DETECTOR HAS BEEN STABLE WITH THE READ NOISE BIAS AND GAIN SHOWING NO CHANGES IN DAILY CALIBRATION RUNS SINCE LAUNCH. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF WEAR IN ANY MECHANICAL SYSTEM. ONLY NECESSARY MOVEMENTS OF FILTER WHEELS AND TELESCOPE SHUTTERS ARE BEING PERFORMED TO MAXIMIZE THEIR LIFETIME. MOST IMPORTANTLY EACH SCIENCE MODE INCLUDES SPECIAL MOVEMENTS TO KEEP THE LUBRICATION SPREAD UNIFORMLY ON THE TELESCOPE ELEVATION DRIVE BEARINGS. THE THERMAL SYSTEM IS HOLDING THE INSTRUMENT TEMPERATURE WITHIN SPECIFIED TOLERANCES WITH NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN ANY HEATER DUTY CYCLE IMPLYING THAT THE RADIATOR IS NOT DEGRADING. THE FLIGHT COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE ARE WORKING PERFECTLY. THE FLIGHT MODE HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO PERFORM ALL NECESSARY SCIENCE AND CALIBRATION MEASUREMENTS INCLUDING WEEKLY LOWER ATMOSPHERE NORMALIZATION SCANS WITHOUT ANY COMMANDING FROM THE GROUND. THIS WOULD ALLOW TIDI TO CONTINUE TO COLLECT THE NOMINAL SCIENCE DATA EVEN IF IT WERE NOT POSSIBLE TO SEND COMMANDS TO THE INSTRUMENT. THE LAST SPECIAL RUN WAS CONDUCTED OVER THE PERIOD 2-NOVEMBER-2016 TO 4-MARCH-2017 OVER TWO COMPLETE YAW CYCLES (1. 7-NOV-2016 TO 31-DEC-2016 AND 2. 31-DEC-2016 TO 3-MAR-2017) TO ENSURE THAT TIDI COULD STILL BE SUCCESSFULLY COMMANDED BUT ALSO TO PERFORM AND TEST A REDLINE ONLY RUN IN ANTICIPATION OF THE ICON MISSION.
