THE PROJECT WILL COMBINE LUNAR ATMOSPHERE AND DUST ENVIRONMENT EXPLORER (LADEE) ULTRAVIOLET-VISIBLE SPECTROMETER (UVS) DATA WITH EXOSPHERIC MODELS TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING SCIENTIFIC OBJECTIVES:. 1. DISCOVER OR ESTABLISH MORE STRINGENT LIMITS FOR PREVIOUSLY UNDETECTED METALS (SI AL MG CA TI FE) IN THE LUNAR EXOSPHERE; . 2. DETERMINE THE SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL STRUCTURE OF GASEOUS METALS AND ATOMIC OXYGEN AND UNDERSTAND THE PROCESSES THAT CONTROL THEIR DISTRIBUTION AND VARIABILITY. .PRELIMINARY ANALYSES SHOWN IN THIS PROPOSAL DEMONSTRATE THAT UVS DATA REVEAL NOT ONLY DETECTIONS BUT ALSO OFFER SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL RESOLUTION SUFFICIENT TO FULFILL THESE OBJECTIVES. .
