THE ORIGINAL SSW PROPOSAL TO PI ELARDO THROUGH TOWSON UNIVERSITY (NNX16AQ17G) CONSISTED OF THREE RESEARCH TASKS DESIGNED TO ELUCIDATE KEY ASPECTS OF EARLY LUNAR CRUST BUILDING PROCESSES OPERATING IMMEDIATELY AFTER MAGMA OCEAN CRYSTALLIZATION. THE OBJECTIVES OF THAT PROPOSAL AND CONTINUED IN THIS PROPOSAL ARE (1) TO EXPERIMENTALLY TEST WHETHER THE KREEP RESERVOIR IS AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF LUNAR MG-SUITE MAGMATISM (2) TO EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINE TRACE ELEMENT PARTITION COEFFICIENTS DIRECTLY RELEVANT TO MG-SUITE MAGMAS THAT CAN BE USED FOR MODELING THEIR ORIGIN AND (3) TO CONSTRAIN INTER-SAMPLE RELATIONSHIPS AMONG MG-SUITE SAMPLES FROM APOLLO 17 AND ASSESS WHETHER THEY COULD BE DERIVED FROM A SINGLE LAYERED INTRUSION. THE MOTIVATION FOR THIS WORK IS TO ADDRESS THREE OF THE BIGGEST OUTSTANDING QUESTIONS REGARDING THE LUNAR CRUST: WHETHER MG-SUITE MAGMATISM WAS A GLOBAL MAGMATIC EVENT HOW THE LITHOLOGIES OF THE MG-SUITE ARE RELATED AND WHAT THESE RELATIONSHIPS IMPLY ABOUT THE AGE OF THE MG-SUITE.
