THE JWST ERA PROMISES TRANSMISSION SPECTROSCOPY OF THE ATMOSPHERES OF NEARBY EXOPLANETS OPENING A NEW WINDOW ON EXOPLANET CHARACTERIZATION. THE REMARKABLE COMPLEMENT OF THREE SUPER- EARTHS COVERING THE ROCKY TO GASEOUS RANGE RECENTLY DISCOVERED ORBITING GJ 9827 MAKES IT THE CLOSEST EXOPLANET HOST DISCOVERED BY KEPLER TO DATE AND A PRIME TARGET FOR JWST ATMOSPHERIC TRANSMISSION SPECTROSCOPY. IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS IT HAS BEEN REALISED THAT THE X-RAY AND EUV EMISSION OF STARS IS VITAL FOR UNDERSTANDING THE ATMOSPHERES AND EVOLUTION OF THEIR PLANETS. HOWEVER GJ 9827 HAS NOT YET BEEN DETECTED AT X-RAY OR EUV WAVELENGTHS AND ITS HIGH-ENERGY ACTIVITY CAN PRESENTLY ONLY BE EXTRAPOLATED USING CHROMOSPHERIC INDICES AND ROTATION PERIOD. WE PROPOSE TO OBSERVE GJ 9827 IN THREE SNAPSHOTS.
