WE WILL MAKE TWO UNIQUE DATA SETS AVAILABLE THROUGH A NEW DATA SERVING STANDARD IN ORDER TO ALLOW THESE RESOURCES TO BE MORE FULLY INTEGRATED INTO THE ECOSYSTEM OF THE HELIOPHYSICS DATA ENVIRONMENT (HPDE). GLOBAL MAGNETOMETER DATA FROM THE SUPERMAG SYSTEM AND REMOTELY SENSED IONOSPHERIC DATA FROM THE GLOBAL ULTRAVIOLET IMAGER (GUVI) INSTRUMENT ON NASA S THERMOSPHERE IONOSPHERE MESOSPHERE ENERGETICS AND DYNAMICS (TIMED) SPACECRAFT WILL BE ADAPTED SO THEY CAN BE DELIVERED VIA THE HELIOPHYSICS APPLICATION PROGRAMMER S INTERFACE (HAPI). A SIMPLIFIED VIEW OF THE GUVI DATA WILL ALSO BE CREATED TO ALLOW EASIER USE BY NONEXPERTS. THE HAPI SPECIFICATION IS BEING ADOPTED BY MULTIPLE DATA CENTERS AND IT WORKS WELL FOR IN?SITU SPACE?BASED DATA SETS. GUVI IS NOT IN?SITU AND SUPERMAG IS NOT SPACE?BASED SO THESE DIFFERENCES MAY REVEAL AREAS WHERE THE HAPI SPECIFICATION NEEDS BOLSTERING. IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER DIFFERENT TYPES OF DATA PRODUCTS NOW WHILE THE HAPI SPECIFICATION IS RELATIVELY NEW. FINALLY WE WILL IMPLEMENT THE HAPI ACCESS IN A GENERIC WAY THAT CAN BE RE?USED BY OTHER DATA PROVIDERS. THEREFORE THIS PROPOSAL WILL 1) INCREASE THE INTEROPERABILITY FOR TWO VERY INTERESTING HELIOPHYSICS RESOURCES (GUVI AND SUPERMAG) 2) ENSURE THE HAPI SPECIFICATION IS APPLICABLE TO A WIDER ARRAY OF DATA TYPES AND 3) SIMPLIFY THE PROCESS OTHER PROVIDERS NEED TO DO TO MAKE THEIR DATA AVAILABLE THROUGH HAPI.
