THE ANITA-V EXPERIMENT (PI P. GORHAM U. HAWAII) HAS OBSERVED TWO EVENTS WITH 'INVERTED POLARITY' WHICH DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY CONFORM TO STANDARD MODEL EXPECTATIONS. THIS MAY SIGNAL SOME DEPARTURE FROM THE SM AT THE EXTREMELY HIGH ENERGIES TO WHICH ANITA IS UNIQUELY SENSITIVE. CRITICAL TO UNDERSTANDING THESE EVENTS IS AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE MEASUREMENT OF THE RECEIVED SIGNAL POLARITY BY THE ANITA INTERFEROMETRY. THE HICAL-3 EXPERIMENT HAS AS ITS SCIENCE GOAL A HIGH-STATISTICS CALIBRATION OF SUCH A POLARITY MEASUREMENT. FOLLOWING THE HICAL-1 AND HICAL-2 MISSIONS WHICH DEMONSTRATED THE PRINCIPLE OF THE AIRBORNE CALIBRATION SCHEME WE NOW SEEK TO IMPROVE ON THE STATISTICS AND FIDELITY OF PREVIOUS MISSIONS. IN ADDITION WE SEEK TO PROVIDE A CALIBRATION SOURCE NOT ONLY FOR HORIZONTALLY-POLARIZED EMISSIONS FROM ULTRA-HIGH ENERGY COSMIC RAYS (UHECR) BUT ALSO VERTICALLY-POLARIZED EMISSIONS FROM NEUTRINO INTERACTIONS IN-ICE.
