AN ABUNDANCE OF EVIDENCE INDICATES THAT SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLES (SMBHS) ARE A KEY COMPONENT IN THE FORMATION AND EVOLUTION OF TODAY S GALAXIES. WITH THE REALIZATION THAT ALL MASSIVE GALAXIES CONTAIN A SMBH AT THEIR CENTERS (E.G. KORMENDY&RICHSTONE 1995) AND THAT THEIR MASSES ARE CORRELATED WITH A RANGE OF HOST GALAXY PROPERTIES (E.G. MCCONNELL&MA 2013) IT APPEARS THESE SMBHS HAVE A PROFOUND INFLUENCE ON THE EVOLUTION OF THE GALAXY IN WHICH THEY RESIDE. HOWEVER CURRENT MODELS OF GALAXY EVOLUTION ARE LIMITED TO VERY SIMPLE PRESCRIPTIONS OF THE ROLE OF THESE SMBHS IN SIMULATIONS DUE TO A LACK OF CONSTRAINTS FROM OBSERVATIONAL DATA ON THE KEY PROCESSES THAT DRIVE THE CO-EVOLUTION OF SMBHS AND GALAXIES: INFLOWS AND OUTFLOWS. THIS MOTIVATES THE KECK OSIRIS NEARBY AGN OR KONA SURVEY THE FIRST EVER ADAPTIVE-OPTICS ASSISTED INTEGRAL-FIELD SPECTROSCOPIC SURVEY OF THE CENTRAL FEW HUNDRED PARSECS OF POWERFUL ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEI (AGN). THE KONA OBSERVING CAMPAIGN IS NOW COMPLETE WITH A STATISTICALLY MEANINGFUL SAMPLE OF 40 SEYFERT GALAXIES OBSERVED. THIS THREE YEAR ADAP WILL SUPPORT PI FRANCISCO M LLER-S NCHEZ AND CO-I ERIN HICKS IN LEADING THE KONA SURVEY DATA ANALYSIS WHICH WILL PROVIDE THE CRITICALLY NEEDED OBSERVATIONAL CONSTRAINTS ON HOW SMBHS ARE CONNECTED WITH THE EVOLUTION OF THEIR HOST GALAXIES. CONSISTENT WITH THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ASTROPHYSICS DATA ANALYSIS PROGRAM THIS PROJECT RELIES ON MULTIWAVELENGTH ARCHIVAL DATA FROM SEVERAL NASA PROJECTS FOR ITS SUCCESS (KECK OBSERVATORY HST SPITZER AND 2MASS). IN ADDITION THIS PROJECT WILL ADVANCE THE UNDERSTANDING OF GALAXY EVOLUTION WHICH IS ONE OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE NASA COSMIC ORIGINS PROGRAM.
