WE PROPOSE TO PRODUCE A DATA BASE THAT INCLUDES THE UCLA INAA FOR CA 750 IRON METEORITES AND TO DEVELOP DATA-MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FOR AN ARCHIVE ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC. THE GOAL FOR THE FIRST YEAR IS TO COMPLETE THE REEXAMINATION AND UPDATING OF INAA DATA OF 12-15 ELEMENTS IN GROUPS IIIAB AND IIIE AND TO PRODUCE A PRELIMINARY VERSION OF THE DATA MANIPULATION AND SEARCHING SOFTWARE. DURING THE SECOND YEAR WE WILL REEXAMINE DATA FOR THE REMAINING 10 GROUPS OF IRONS FOR THE UNGROUPED IRONS AND FOR THE TWO PALLASITE GROUPS. THESE DATA WILL BE A GREAT BENEFIT TO THOSE PURSUING STUDIES OF ELEMENTAL COMPOSITION ISOTOPIC COMPOSITION AND METALLOGRAPHIC PROPERTIES OF IRON METEORITES ABOUT 10% OF OUR EFFORTS WILL BE SPENT ANALYZING NEW IRONS IRONS THAT PROVE TO BE PAIRED WITH IRONS THAT WERE CHARACTERIZED IN THE PAST AND REANALYZING SOME IRONS FOR WHICH OUR PAST DATA SHOW MORE SCATTER THAN NORMAL. ALL THESE DATA WILL BE ADDED TO THE DATA BASE.
