THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA WILL CONTINUE ITS WORK WITH NASA'S GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER (GSFC) TO CONDUCT RESEARCH IN SUPPOTT OF PREVIOUS EXISTING AND FUTURE PLANETARY SCIENCE MISSIONS. THIS PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING AREAS: DEVELOPMENT OF ALGORITHMS AND SOFTWARE FOR THE CASSINI COMPOSITE INFRARED SPECTROMETER (CIRS) SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS OF CIRS DATA ESPECIALLY OF ITS ICY MOONS INCLUDING THE INTRIGUING ENCELADUS DEVELOPMENT OF ALGORITHMS FOR THE VOYAGER INFRARED SPECTROMETER (IRIS) SUPPORT OF THE OPERATION OF THE OVIRS VISIBLE/IR SPECTROMETER ON THE OSIRIS-REX MISSION SUPPOTT OF THE COMET ASTROBIOLOGY EXPLORATION SAMPLE RETURN (CAESAR) NEW FRONTIERS PHASE A STUDY BY DEVELOPING AND TESTING A NON-DISPERSIVE INFRARED GAS ASSEMBLY (NDIRGA) SYSTEM AND ITS ASIC ELECTRONICS SUPPORT OF THE DESIGN ASSEMBLY ALIGNMENT AND TESTING OFTHENNAL INFRARED COMPOSITE IMAGING SPECTROMETER (TIRCIS) INSTRUMENT FUNDED THROUGH THE PICASSO PROGRAM SUPPOTT OF THE DESIGN ASSEMBLY ALIGNMENT AND TESTING OF ADVANCED NET FLUX RADIOMETER FOCAL PLANE ASSEMBLY FOR ICE GIANTS (NFR) INSTRUMENT FUNDED THROUGH THE PICASSO PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUMENTATION AND MISSION CONCEPTS FOR FUTURE PLANETARY MISSIONS MANAGEMENT OFNASA/GSFC CODE 693 INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY UNDER THIS CONTINUED RESEARCH NICOLAS GORIUS - A CUA RESEARCHER WORKING AT GSFC - WILL SERVE AS LAB MANAGER INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEMS ENGINEER AND DATA PROCESSING EXPERT. THESE ROLES ARE KEY POSITIONS IN THE SUCCESS OF THE CASSINI/CIRS THE OSIRIS-REX/OVIRS EXPERIMENTS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW INSTRUMENTS. THESE EFFORTS WILL ALSO REFLECT ON GSFC AS ONE OF THE MAJOR PLAYERS IN PLANETARY SCIENCE.
