THE SUBORBITAL FLIGHT PROVIDER FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE RAVEN AEROSTAR. RADPC@SCALE WILL FLY ON THEIR THUNDERHEAD BALLOON SYSTEM INTO THE LOWER STRATOSPHERE. THE FIRST REQUIREMENT FOR THIS FLIGHT DEMONSTRATION IS TO GET RADPC OUT OF THE MAJORITY OF THE EARTH S ATMOSPHERE WHICH ATTENUATES HIGH ENERGY IONIZING RADIATION. REACHING THE LOWER LEVEL OF THE STRATOSPHERE (55K-75K FEET) WILL SATISFY THIS REQUIREMENT. THE SECOND REQUIREMENT OF THIS EXPERIMENT IS TO REMAIN AT THIS ALTITUDE FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 DAYS. THE LONGER RADPC REMAINS IN THE STRATOSPHERE THE MORE FAULT DATA CAN BE COLLECTED. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT RADPC WILL EXPERIENCE ~5-10 FAULTS PER DAY. THUS THE MORE TIME IT CAN REMAIN AFLOAT THE BETTER. A MINIMUM FLOAT TIME OF 5 DAYS WILL GIVE A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF DATA TO SUPPORT ADVANCING ITS TRL AND MOTIVATING THE NEED FOR AN ORBITAL DEMONSTRATION. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT IF SUCCESSFUL THIS PROJECT WILL DEMONSTRATE A CROSS-CUTTING TECHNOLOGY IN ITS FINAL FORM IN A REPRESENTATIVE ENVIRONMENT IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE A TRL OF 7.
