THE PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR DAVID LAGOMASINO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DELIVERING THE FINAL DATA PRODUCTS AND REPORT OF THE PROJECT. HE IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE QUALITY AND DIRECTION OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH THE PROPER USE OF ALL AWARDED FUNDS AND ENSURE THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT OBJECTIVES. HE WILL OVERSEE AND WORK DIRECTLY WITH A POST-DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE (TBD) DELIVERING THE FINAL DATA PRODUCTS. LAGOMASION AND THE POST-DOC WILL DERIVE MULTIVARIATE CHM-SPECTRAL-BIOMASS PREDICTION MODELS BASED UPON LIDAR/VHR STRUCTURE MAPS SPECTRAL BIOPHYSICAL MAPS AND FIELD BIOMASS AND CARBON MEASUREMENTS. TOTAL ABOVE AND BELOW GROUND CARBON STOCKS WILL BE ESTIMATED FOR MANGROVES MANGROVESAWGRASS AND SAWGRASS COMMUNITIES THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO SEAWATER INTRUSION. MOREOVER THE RECORD OF CHMS IN THE EVERGLADES SRTM IN 2000 AND AIRBONE LIDAR 2004 2007 2011 AND 2015 PROVIDE A DECADAL RECORD OF CANOPY HEIGHT VARIABILITY OVER TIME. COMBINED WITH THE ARCHIVED LANDSAT RECORD WE WILL ESTIMATE CHANGES TO CARBON AND BIOMASS STOCKS OVER TIME. THESE HINDCASTED MODELS WILL BE VALIDATED USING LONG-TERM FIELD MEASUREMENTS AT STRATEGIC FIELD SITES THROUGHOUT THE EVERGLADES (FCELTER.FIU.EDU). LASTLY FORECASTED CHANGES IN THE EVERGLADES LANDSCAPE AND CARBON STOCKS WILL BE MODELED WITH DIFFERENT ACCELERATIONS OF SEA-LEVEL RISE OVER THE 21ST CENTURY WITH PARTICULAR INTEREST TO THE EXPANSION AND COLLAPSE OF PEAT SOILS.
