SATELLITE OCEAN COLOR OBSERVATIONS FROM NASAS PACE AND ACE MISSIONS. APPLICATIONS AND SOCIETAL BENEFITS THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED WORK IS TO CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE NASA APPLIED SCIENCES PROGRAM AS THE APPLICATIONS PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE FOR DECADAL SURVEY SATELLITE MISSION ACE (AEROSOLS CLOUDS AND COASTAL ECOSYSTEMS) AND THE CLIMATE INITIATIVE SATELLITE MISSION PACE (PLANKTON AEROSOL COULD OCEAN ECOSYSTEM). WITH ADVANCED GLOBAL REMOTE SENSING CAPABILITIES THAT INCLUDE GLOBAL HYPER SPECTRAL IMAGING EXTENDED SPECTRAL COVERAGE TO THE UV AND SWIR AND IMPROVED SPATIAL COVERAGE PACE AND ACE ARE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY OBSERVATIONS THAT OVER THE LONG TERM WILL CONTRIBUTE TO AN EXTENDED TIME SERIES OF RECORDS ON INLAND COASTAL AND OCEAN ECOSYSTEMS ALL OF WHICH HAVE SUBSTANTIAL VALUE BEYOND BASIC SCIENCE AND RESEARCH. THE COMBINATION OF CLIMATE QUALITY GLOBAL ATMOSPHERIC AND OCEANIC OBSERVATIONS PROVIDED BY THE PACE MISSION WILL PROVIDE A UNIQUE CAPABILITY TO HELP UNDERSTAND CHANGES THAT AFFECT OUR ECOSYSTEM SERVICES IMPLEMENT SCIENCE BASED MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES OF COASTAL MARINE AND INLAND AQUATIC RESOURCES AND SUPPORT ASSESSMENTS POLICY ANALYSES AND DESIGN APPROACHES TO PLAN ADAPTATION AND RESPONSES TO IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE. AMONG MY OBJECTIVES AS THE APPLICATIONS REPRESENTATIVE FOR PACE AND ACE MISSIONS IS TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL USER COMMUNITIES (OPERATIONAL USERS POLICY IMPLEMENTERS THE COMMERCIAL SECTOR EDUCATORS THE GENERAL PUBLIC) AND AREAS OF APPLICATIONS FOR THESE FUTURE NASA MISSIONS TO ENSURE THAT THE PRODUCT SUITE AND DELIVERY MECHANISMS MAXIMIZE THE USEFULNESS OF THE DATA.
