WE PROPOSE TO DEVELOP DOCUMENT AND PUBLICLY RELEASE NEW SOFTWARE DUBBED JANUS/PESA FOR BROWSING AND JOINTLY PROCESSING MEASUREMENTS FROM BOTH OF THE WIND/3DP ION ELECTROSTATIC-ANALYZERS (PESA-L AND PESA-H). BY ANALYZING MEASUREMENTS FROM BOTH PESA INSTRUMENTS TOGETHER JANUS/PESA WILL ALLOW USERS TO SIMULTANEOUSLY STUDY AND CHARACTERIZE BOTH THERMAL AND SUPERTHERMAL IONS IN THE PLASMA. FURTHERMORE THE JANUS/PESA ANALYSIS ALGORITHMS WILL HAVE NUMEROUS CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS WHICH WILL ENABLE IT TO PROCESS MEASUREMENTS FROM A WIDE RANGE OF PLASMA CONDITIONS. IN ADDITION TO MAKING JANUS/PESA HIGHLY CONFIGURABLE WE WILL ALSO ENSURE THAT IT WILL BE EASY TO USE BY DEVELOPING FOR IT A GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE (GUI). WE WILL ALSO FULLY INTEGRATE ALL DESIGN AND OPERATION DETAILS OF THE PESA INSTRUMENTS (E.G. THEIR RESPONSE FUNCTIONS AND CALIBRATION DATA) INTO JANUS/PESA TO REDUCE THE PREREQUISITE INSTRUMENTATION-KNOWLEDGE THAT WILL BE REQUIRED BY POTENTIAL USERS.
