IN THE PROPOSED PROJECT WE WILL COMPLETE THE CREATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE DATABASE OF PLASMAPAUSE LOCATIONS DERIVED FROM NASA S IMAGER FOR MAGNETOPAUSE-TO-AURORA GLOBAL EXPLORATION (IMAGE) EXTREME ULTRAVIOLET (EUV) INSTRUMENT PROVIDE CRITICAL METADATA AND ARCHIVE ALL OF THIS AT THE NSSDC IN A FORMAT COMPATIBLE WITH THE VIRTUAL OBSERVATORIES (VOS) ARCHITECTURE. WE WILL COLLABORATE WITH DR. DENNIS GALLAGHER AT NASA MARSHALL SPACE FLIGHT CENTER AND MICHAEL LIEMOHN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN TO CREATE THE ADDED VALUE ENHANCEMENT OF IMAGER FOR MAGNETOPAUSE-TO-AURORA GLOBAL EXPLORATION (IMAGE) MISSION EXTREME ULTRAVIOLET IMAGER (EUV). DR. DENNIS GALLAGHER WILL PROVIDE THE FULL LEVEL 1 DATA SET. DR. ROXANNE KATUS WILL THEN DETERMINE THE LOCATION OF THE PLASMAPAUSE. THE PROCESS STARTS A FLAT FIELD CORRECTION. NEXT THE DATA WILL BE MAPPED TO THE EQUATORIAL PLAN. FINALLY THE PLASMAPAUSE IS DETERMINED USING THE METHOD DESCRIBED IN KATUS ET AL. [2015]. DR. MICHAEL LIEMOHN AND DR. DENNIS GALLAGHER WILL ALSO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ADVICE CONCERNING METADATA THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. IMAGE EUV DATA IS CURRENTLY ARCHIVED IN UNIVERSAL DATA FORMAT (UDF) WHICH IS QUICKLY BECOMING OUT OF DATE. THUS WE WILL BE CONVERTING THE FILES INTO NASA S COMMON DATA FORMAT (CDF) AND TO PROVIDE THOSE DATA TO THE SPDF ALONG WITH THE NECESSARY METADATA AND BASIC SOFTWARE TO ENABLE PRACTICAL LONG TERM ACCESS TO THESE HIGHLY VALUABLE OBSERVATIONS OF HELIUM IONS IN THE PLASMASPHERE. DR. KATUS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPLEMENTING A PRODUCTION PROCESS THAT GENERATES PLASMAPAUSE CDF FILES. DR. KATUS WILL USE THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE TO HOLD THE PRODUCED CDF AND SOFTWARE FILES AND DELIVER THEM TO THE SPDF.
