EARTH POLYCHROMATIC IMAGING CAMERA (EPIC) LEVEL 1 (L1) DATA ARE THE BASE FOR THE EPIC LEVEL 2 (L2) PRODUCTS SUCH AS OZONE VEGETATION INDEX OR CLOUD PROPERTIES. ANY SYSTEMATICERROR IN THE L1 DATA EITHER FROM INCOMPLETE PRE-LAUNCH CALIBRATION OR FROM UNDETECTED CALIBRATION CHANGES ON ORBIT WILL DIRECTLY AFFECT ALL L2 PRODUCTS. THIS PROPOSAL AIMS TO PRODUCE A VERSION 2 EPIC STRAY LIGHT CALIBRATION (V2SLC). VERSION 1 EPIC STRAY LIGHT CALIBRATION (V1SLC) WAS SUBMITTED IN FEBRUARY 2016 AND IS BASED ON THE RE-ANALYSIS OF PRE-LAUNCH DATA TAKEN IN THE LABORATORY AND FIRST EPIC IMAGES OF THE EARTH AND THE MOON TAKEN ON ORBIT. FOR THIS PROJECT WE WILL TEST V1SLC RESULTS ON EARTH AND MOON IMAGES (L1 AND L2) AND PRODUCE V2SLC WHICH ELIMINATES POTENTIAL ERRORS WE DETECT ON V1SLC. THE INPUT FOR OUR PROPOSED CALIBRATION AND MAINTENANCE WORK ARE THE PRE-LAUNCH LABORATORY MEASUREMENTS AND THE EPIC DATA TAKEN ON ORBIT. THE OUTPUT OF OUR PROPOSAL WILL BE V2SLC.
