WE PROPOSE TO OBTAIN PHASE-RESOLVED MOS/PN OBSERVATIONS OF THE MAGNETIC O STAR NGC 1624-2 WHICH HAS THE STRONGEST MAGNETIC FIELD EVER DETECTED IN A O-STAR BY AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE. WITH SUCH A STRONG FIELD NGC 1624-2 IS A UNIQUE LABORATORY FOR THE STUDY OF MAGNETICALLY CONFINED STELLAR WINDS. INDEED THE ALFVEN RADIUS RA WHICH DESCRIBES THE RADIAL EXTENT TO WHICH THE MAGNETIC FIELD IS ABLE TO CONFINE THE WIND IS ESTIMATED TO BE 11 RSTAR HENCE TRAPPING 95% OF THE INTEGRATED SURFACE MASS FLUX INTO CLOSED LOOPS. THIS IS MUCH GREATER THAN OTHER MAGNETIC O STARS WITH RA OF JUST A FEW STELLAR RADII THEREBY PROVIDING A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THE COMPLEX INTERACTIONS BETWEEN MAGNETIC FIELDS AND MATTER IN A RADIATION DOMINATED ENVIRONMENT.
