A COMPREHENSIVE CHARACTERIZATION OF SIRIUS-LIKE SYSTEMS SIRIUS-LIKE SYSTEMS OF WHICH ONLY 98 ARE PRESENTLY KNOWN CAN BE EFFECTIVELY DEFINED AS A WHITE DWARF ORBITING A LUMINOUS STAR OF SPECTRAL TYPE K OR EARLIER. DESPITE THE FACT THESE SYSTEMS REPRESENT A SIGNIFICANT FRACTION (8%) OF ALL WHITE DWARFS THEY ARE NOTORIOUSLY HARD TO DETECT IN THE PRESENCE OF A CLOSE LUMINOUS COMPANION. IN THE 1990S EUV SURVEYS REVEALED SIGNIFICANT NUMBERS OF LUMINOUS STARS (B THRU K) HAVING EUV EXCESSES; INDICATING THE PRESENCE OF PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN HOT WHITE DWARF COMPANIONS. WE PROPOSE TO SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE NUMBER OF KNOWN SIRIUS-LIKE SYSTEMS BY USING THE GALEX ARCHIVE. GALEX FUV AND NUV FLUXES PROVIDE AN IDEAL TOOL FOR IDENTIFYING SIRIUS-LIKE SYSTEMS WHERE THE OPTICAL BANDS ARE DOMINATED BY LUMINOUS BUT COOLER COMPANIONS. THESE NEW SYSTEMS WILL THEN BE COMPARED WITH THE PREVALENCE OF SIRIUS-LIKE SYSTEMS AMONG THE GENERAL WHITE DWARF POPULATION AND THE POPULATION OF MAIN SEQUENCE STARS THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND IN RECENT STUDIES OF THE LOCAL STELLAR NEIGHBORHOOD.
