THIS UNSOLICITED PROPOSAL FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA CENTRAL FLORIDA REMOTE SENSING LABORATORY (CFRSL) IS TO IMPROVE THE LEGACY TRMM MICROWAVE IMAGER (TMI) BRIGHTNESS TEMPERATURE PRODUCT TRMM 1B11 VERSION-8. THIS PROPOSAL AUGMENTS OUR CURRENT PMM SCIENCE TEAM RESEARCH WITH THE INTER-SATELLITE CALIBRATION WORKING GROUP (X-CAL) FUNDED UNDER NASA GRANT NNX16AE35G (ROSES-2016 NRZA CALL) FOR THE REFINEMENT OF METHODOLOGIES FOR THE INTER-CALIBRATION OF BRIGHTNESS TEMPERATURE RADIANCE (TB) MEASUREMENTS FROM PASSIVE MICROWAVE RADIOMETER SENSORS. SPECIFICALLY WE PROPOSE TO: DEVELOP HOT LOAD CORRECTION ALGORITHMS TO REMOVE THE EFFECTS OF SOLAR INTRUSION INTO THE TMI PASSIVE BLACKBODY ABSORBER LOAD SEPARATE THE HOT LOAD AND EMISSIVE REFLECTOR CORRECTIONS AND IMPLEMENT THE PROTOTYPE CODE TO BE DELIVERED TO THE NASA GSFC PRECIPITATION PROCESSING SYSTEM (PPS) DEVELOP SEPARATE HOT LOAD CORRECTION AND MAIN REFLECTOR PHYSICAL TEMPERATURE TABLES FROM THE TRMM 17-YEAR DATA SET AND DELIVER THESE TABLES TO PPS PERFORM VALIDATION OF NEW 1B11 V-8 PRODUCT DELIVERED BY THE PPS
