THE GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED WORK IS TO INVESTIGATE AND IDENTIFY THE ICE SHEET WIDE CONTROLS ON ICEBERG CALVING FOR THE GREENLAND ICE SHEET. SPECIFICALLY THE PROPOSED WORK WILL COMBINE EXISTING OBSERVATIONS DATA TO IDENTIFY WHERE EACH OF THE CURRENT CALVING LAWS MOST ACCURATELY REPRODUCES EXISTING TERMINI POSITIONS AND CALVING RATE WITHOUT FILLING PARAMETERS INDEPENDENTLY WITH THE GOAL OF PROVIDING BEST-PRACTICE RECOMMENDATIONS TO ICE SHEET MODELERS REGARDING CALVING LAWS SELECTION AND IMPLEMENTATION. ICEBERG CALVING HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS CRITICAL PROCESS THAT REMAINS POORLY UNDERSTOOD AND THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE UNCERTAINTY IN OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CURRENT AND FUTURE STATE OF THE GREENLAND ICE SHEET.
