FOR EXAMPLE GRANITOID FRAGMENTS DOCUMENTED IN THE ADZHI-BOGDO LL3-6 CHONDRITE REPRESENT EVOLVED MAGMATISM ON AN UNKNOWN PARENT BODY CA. 100 MYR AFTER SOLAR SYSTEM FORMATION. ANOTHER SUCH FRAGMENT RECENTLY DESCRIBED IN THE POLYMICT UREILITE EET87720 DEEPENS THE MYSTERY OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL (ET) GRANITES. DID THESE FORM IN VOLATILE-RICH (NOW EXTINCT) PROTO-PLANETS? MY INTERDISCIPLINARY WORK (GEOLOGY GEOCHEMISTRY GEOCHRONOLOGY COSMOCHEMISTRY PLANETARY SCIENCES) WILL DOCUMENT THESE ENIGMATIC GRANITES IN THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE STUDY TO DATE. I WILL COMPARE THE COMPOSITION OF ADZHI-BOGDO GRANITOIDS WITH A DATABASE OF KNOWN TERRESTRIAL (GEOROC) AND ET GRANITOIDS (E.G. MARTIAN GRANODIORITE; LUNAR GRANOPHYRE) TO TEST POSSIBLE PETROGENETIC RELATIONS AND TO POTENTIALLY UNRAVEL THE NATURE OF THE PARENT BODY. THIS RESEARCH WILL OFFER US A BROADER UNDERSTANDING OF THE HITHERTO UNAPPRECIATED DIVERSITY OF GRANITE FORMATION PROCESSES IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM FROM THE EARLIEST TIMES.
