COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES, NEW COMPETITIVE AGREEMENT, UNDER FOA NUMBER DE-FOA-0002707(MINER) WITH PROJECT TITLE 'INTEGRATED ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC FRACTURING AND REAL-TIME MONITORING FOR CARBON NEGATIVE IN-SITU MINING' WILL INTEGRATE RESERVOIR STIMULATION AND SENSING TECHNOLOGY FOR ENHANCED IN-SITU MINING (ISM) AND CARBON MINERALIZATION. THIS PROJECT WILL USE DISRUPTIVE ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC FRACTURING (E-HF) TECHNOLOGY, WHICH STIMULATES ORE BODIES BY THE COMBINATION OF ELECTRIC AND THERMAL SHOCKS, CREATING A HIGHLY INTERCONNECTED FRACTURE NETWORK DEVOID OF SHORT-CIRCUITS AND PROVIDES MAXIMUM REACTIVE SURFACE AREA FOR EFFICIENT MINERALS LEACHING AND CO2 CARBONATION. THE E-HF STIMULATION IS ACCOMPANIED BY COST-EFFECTIVE DISTRIBUTED FIBER-OPTIC SENSING (DFOS), WHICH MEASURES CHANGES IN STRAIN, TEMPERATURE, AND SEISMIC VELOCITY, AND HELPS OPTIMIZE WELL CONFIGURATION, GUIDES STIMULATION PROCESSES, AND QUANTIFIES STIMULATION VOLUME.
